Support Engineer II

We’re growing and looking for a Support Engineer II who will provide support for our customers with exceptional service, efficiency, and diligence.

This is a full-time, on-site position.

About the Position:

The primary role of the Support Engineer II is to resolve technical issues reported by customers, implement solutions, and assist in projects. This role is largely independent, once fully on-boarded.

WYRE team members share the responsibility of customer support. This includes answering support calls, responding to tickets, and being assigned to high-level projects as needed. Support Engineers are frequently dispatched to customer sites to troubleshoot computer and network issues that cannot be resolved remotely.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Respond immediately to customer issues and provide excellent customer service. (All technical staff are involved in end-user support.)
  • Utilize IT ticketing system to track support requests and resolutions
  • Follow up on open support requests
  • Meet first-call resolution of 60% or better
  • Perform administration of server, storage, and network infrastructure, both on-prem and cloud
  • Manage user identities and access across multiple domains
  • Analyze security alerts and escalate as necessary
  • Respond to monitoring alerts and troubleshoot issues
  • Assist in management of endpoint and email security
  • Configure and deploy workstations, network equipment, and servers
  • Troubleshoot computer hardware and software (Windows, MacOS, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, etc.)
  • Manage backup software, hardware, and media
  • Carry out technical projects and on-site work as assigned
  • Stay up to date on new and emerging products, services, and technology

Qualifications:

  • Motivated, love to learn, and looking to grow in the IT field
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a can-do attitude
  • An IT generalist at the core; any specialized skills and interests are a bonus
  • At least 2–3 years of experience working in IT
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal
  • Exceptional problem-solving ability
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment with the ability to change gears quickly and easily
  • Strong knowledge of various computer and server operating systems
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals; deeper networking expertise is a plus: routers, firewalls, and switches (Ubiquiti, Fortinet, Cisco, etc.)
  • Experience in administration of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Entra ID
  • Experience with ticketing and remote-access software
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity tools
  • Industry-standard certifications preferred (CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, etc.)
  • College degree in Information Technology or relevant education is a plus
